Betty Wood

Betty Wood, age 93, passed away on Feb. 1, 2025 at Parkwood Village, Pratt, KS. She was born December 13, 1931 at Hays, KS the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Karlin) Giebler. 

On October 3, 1953, she married Norman Elmer Wood in Hays, KS. 

Betty attended Hays State College for 1 year, where she worked in the registrar’s office, and she was a homemaker. 

She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, Liturgy Commission Chairman for many years, she loved music and was the Choir Director, and Cantor at the church.

Survivors include her son Darrell N. (Natalie) Wood, Trousdale, KS; a daughter Karen L. (Justin) Vosburgh, Macksville, KS; two daughters-in-law, Melinda Wood and Cindy Wood, a brother Robert Giebler, Wichita, KS; 22 Grandchildren, and 47 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, two sons, Kenneth B. & Glen C. Wood, a daughter, Kathleen A. Wood, a brother Francis Giebler, an infant sister Charlotte Giebler, a daughter-in-law Sheila Wood, a granddaughter Jordan Lindsey Wood, and a great-granddaughter Evelyn C. Elder.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS. Vigil Service will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday February 5, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with Fathers Bob Schremmer and Anselm Eke presiding. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS.
