Dorothy Sparks

Dorothy Marie Sparks, age 100, passed away on June 14, 2021 at Kenwood Plaza, St. John, KS.  She was born on May 1, 1921 near Coy, OK., the daughter of Carl and Olga (Beyer) Schenk.  She graduated from High School in 1945 at Alva, OK., and later received her Bachelor’s degree in Business from Northwestern College in Oklahoma.  Dorothy was a school teacher for the Macksville Schools, retiring after 33 years of teaching there.  On May 17, 1947, she married Donald Lester Sparks at Hutchinson, KS., he passed away in 2009.

Her memberships include, Macksville Christian Church, KNEA, NEA, Rebekah’s, OES, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Sunflower HDU, Macksville VIP Senior Citizens. Graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS., with Mike Benzel presiding.  Memorials may be given to the American Legion Auxiliary, Macksville, in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
