Irene Gatschet

Irene (Satterlee) Gatschet, age 92, passed away Sept. 14, 2018 at her residence in Andover, KS. She was born on July 20, 1926 at Macksville, KS, the daughter of Therman D. and Ethel (Fuqua) Satterlee.  Irene was a former elementary school teacher, school secretary, concert pianist and piano teacher.  A former resident of Hays, KS and Lakewood, CO, moving back to Kansas in 2010. Her memberships include, Sigma Alpha Iota sorority honorary life time member, Daughters of Isabella and PTA.  On Aug. 2, 1948 she married Thomas C. Gatschet at Hays, KS, he survives. Other survivors include 3 sons, Tim, Steve and Mike Gatschet; a daughter, Anne Luke; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah McLaughlin; three brothers, Paul, Edwin and Lowell Satterlee.  Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, St. John, KS with Father Michael Klag.   Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 from 3-7PM with a Vigil/Rosary beginning at 7:00PM at the funeral home in St. John.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Center of Hope, Wichita, in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O.
