Lawrence Eugene Grizzell, age 96, passed away on June 16, 2018 at his rural home in Macksville. He was born on July 25, 1921 in Stafford County, Kansas. The son of Chester and Esther (Henning) Grizzell. He was a lifetime resident, farmer and stockman in the Macksville area. On Feb. 22, 1948 he married Marjorie Louise (Grunder) Grizzell in Macksville. He was a member of the Macksville Christian Church, Masonic Lodge for 66 yrs, Order of Eastern Star of St. John, American Legion of Macksville, served on the Radium CO-OP board, Valley Center Township board, a Navy veteran of WWII, receiving a medal for bravery. He was a member of the Consistory of Wichita and he received an Award of Excellence for Exemplary Display of Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity from KSHSAA.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Eugene Grizzell (Lynda), Wichita, KS, Frederick “Fritz” Ray Grizzell (Ann), Macksville, KS, Todd Aron Grizzell (Marilyn), Macksville, KS; a daughter, Joy Lynne Dutton Snodgrass, Bella Vista, AR; 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by both parents, wife Marjorie Louise Grizzell, brothers, Chester Junior, Edward and Everett Grizzell and a sister Thelma Hill. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Macksville Christian Church with Pastor Jacob Russell presiding. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1-7PM at the funeral home in Macksville with family present from 5-7PM. Memorials may be given to the American Legion at Macksville, in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, Ks 67576.
