Lucille McDaniel

Lucille McDaniel, age 89 passed away March 12, 2025 at Kenwood Plaza, St. John. She was born on August 8, 1935 at Greenwood, Delaware the daughter Ami Melvin and Joy (Unger) Hamstead. She was a 1953 Graduate of Greenwood High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA in 1992 at the age of 57. Lucille was an organist and played for several churches in Virginia and Kansas.

On May 14, 1955 she married Alton Leigh McDaniel in Farmington, DE.

Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca McDaniel, Pratt, KS; Joy (Bob) Rowe, Milford, DE; Leigh (Jay) Roberts, St. John, KS; a sister Edith (David) Andrews, Harrington, DE;

3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Stephen “Sam” McDaniel, and a sister Norma Obier.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 17th, 2025 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS., with Pastor Jane Flora-Swick presiding. Burial will be in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS.
