Norman L. Walker of Wichita, Kansas, age 87, passed away on June 8, 2024. Norman (Norm as he preferred to be called) was born “Norman Lee Walker” on June 5th, 1937, on a farm near St. John, KS / Larned, KS.  He graduated from Radium High School, Radium, Kansas in 1955 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita University in Wichita, Kansas in 1963.  Norm began his career with Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, KS and Seattle, WA, and Cessna Fluid Power in Hutchinson, Kansas. He retired in November 2004 from Monarch Hydraulics, Inc. (now Bucher Hydraulics) in Grand Rapids, MI, as a Chief Engineer.  After retirement, Norm continued working as a part-time consultant in Hydraulic Engineering and just enjoying his retirement. In 2018, Norm moved to Holiday Grasslands Estates in Wichita, KS where he lived until recently with his beloved dog Brody.

Norm married Joyce (Jones) Walker in 1964 (divorced in 1993) and had two sons, Stacy (Derek) Walker and Tim Walker.  Norm married Mary Ward-Walker in 1997 and lived in Grand Rapids until her passing on March 12, 2015.

Norm enjoyed flying and had two (2) collector cars: a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible (original) and a 1957 Ford Thunderbird which he fully restored. 

Funeral Services will be held at Minnis Chapel, Inc., 526 E. 4th Ave., Box 34, St. John, Kansas 67576 on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow at the Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John, Kansas.  Minnis Chapel, Inc. in St John, Kansas in charge of arrangements.
