Wilbert Eugene Bevan

Wilbert Eugene Bevan, 94, passed away on December 6, 2024 at Kenwood Plaza, St. John, KS. He was born in Hugoton, KS on May 26, 1930; the son of Floyd A. and Grace (Gregg) Bevan. He was a farmer/rancher.

Wilbert was a 1948 graduate of Center High School in Center, Colorado lettering in football, basketball, and track. He attended Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kansas from 1949-50 where he played basketball. He was a member of Friends Church, Farm Bureau, and a charter member of S.W. College. Additionally, he served on the Hopewell Cemetery Board, the Presidents Council at both Barclay and S.W. College, USD 351 School Board and was awarded the 2015 Barclay College alumni of the year.

On February 4, 1951 he married Pauline Phyllis (Pike) at Hopewell, KS, and they had two sons and two daughters.

Survivors include a son, Allen (Denice) Bevan, Macksville, Kansas, two daughters, Sharon Brack, Modesto, CA and Anita (Keith) Mahanay, Cottonwood Falls, KS; a sister Lois M. Ellis, Ferndale, WA; 7 Grandchildren, and 15 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Phyllis, a son Lawrence Bevan, two brothers, Delbert W. and Robert J. Bevan, and four sisters Thelma Vandenburg, Ida Ruth Kinser, Wilma Kinser, and Elva Root.

Visitation will be from 1:00 -7:00 p.m., Monday December, 9, 2024 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS, with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS., with Pastor Keith Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, KS.
