Wilbur Wood

Wilbur K. Wood, age 87, went to his heavenly home on February 15, 2025, at his home, rural Trousdale, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 18, 1937 on the family farm near Rozel, Kansas, the identical twin son of Elmer D. and Cathyrene (Salser) Wood.

On October 25,1959, he married Shirley Peterson in Protection, Kansas.

Wilbur attended Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, receiving his BS degree in Mathematics and received his MS degree in Mathematics from Pittsburg State, Pittsburg, Kansas. He was a high school mathematics teacher in Bucklin, Kansas for three years and Macksville, Kansas for 33 years. He enjoyed farming near Trousdale, Kansas along with his successful teaching career.

He was a member of Trousdale Community Church his entire life. He sang beautifully, and his family loved listening to him sing in church. 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home, son Gregory K. (Denise) Wood, Fellsburg, Kansas, son Michael K. (Lori) Wood, Trousdale, Kansas, and daughter Shelly L. (Eric) Doll, Garden City, Kansas, 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Walter, brother Norman, and sister Darlene Mathes.

Visitation will be from 1-7PM on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 at Minnis Chapel, St John, KS, with the family present from 5-7PM. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 at the Trousdale Community Church, Trousdale, Kansas, with Pastor Teresa Wynn officiating. A private burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS.
